A WWI grave marker ceremony will be held on June 1, 2018 in Oak Cliff, Texas, honoring Sgt Roscoe C. Chittim (1889-1923). Chittim was a Missouri-born Cherokee who lived in Texas. Chittim served in a machine gun squad in the 1918 Sedan Offensive and was an MP in France after the Armistice. Family members, local dignitaries, the media, and re-enactors will be present. The event is free and open to the public. Chittim’s moving letter home to his wife in Dallas was used in Love Letters of the Great War.
