Exhibit Opening Ceremony: “Black Warriors of WWI Featuring the Harlem Hellfighters”

Join us for the formal Opening Ceremony of “Black Warriors of WWI Featuring the Harlem Hellfighters” Exhibit at Austin City Hall Nov. 8th 6pm featuring remarks by Mayor Steve Adler, artists Ted Ellis and Glenn Towery, brief History of Black Warriors in WWI by Dr. Lila Rakoczy of the Texas Historical Commission, and “Remembering the Sacrifice” and Wreath Laying by 100 Black Men of Austin.
The free exhibit is open Nov. 5 – Nov. 16 from 9am-6p in the People’s Gallery at Austin City Hall. Exhibit highlights:
– World Premiere of new art by internationally acclaimed artist Ted Ellis
– Harlem Hellfighter art display by local artist and combat veteran Glenn Towery
– Black Warriors from Texas History
– Austin Soldiers in the Harlem Hellfighters (369th Infantry Regiment)
The event is led by the Veterans Suicide Prevention Channel & Austin Veterans Art Festival
