NO VETERANS NO DEMOCRACY NO DEMOCRACY NO AMERICA: Commemorating the Centennial Anniversary of Sacrfice of Service of the 24th US Infantry Regiment of 1917-1918 in San Antonio, Texas on September 28, 2018 at Fort Sam Houston Joint Military Base in San Antonio, Texas. This event will also give a Salute of Honor and Recognition of the Service of the Honorable Ambassador General James McEacin, a member of the 24th US Infantry Regiment.
Civil leaders and youth from across Texas will travel to San Antonio, Texas on September 28, 2018 to attend the inaugural commemoration to honor and recognize the nineteen soldiers of the United States 24th Infantry Regiment that were hanged at Camp Travis at Fort Sam Houston over 100 years ago.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity for us to pay homage to a group of dedicated soldiers who were subjected to some of the most dangerous discrimination during their time and yet have not been remembered in an affirming way until now. Regardless of what some may say about their actions in Houston, Texas, many of us believe that these men died with honor because they refused to bow down to the injustices of their time. They were trained to defend, protect and serve the United States of America and the Constitution and they fulfilled their duty even unto death,” says Pastor K.P. Tatum, Sr., president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and event co-producer.
This event in supported in part by the Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers Association in San Antonio, Texas, the Bowtie Boys in Garland, Texas, Patricia T. Graham Photography, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, Texas Historical Commission Military Programs in Austin, Texas, the Texas Buffalo Soldiers Association and Frontier Forts of Texas in Mansfield, Texas, Texas WW I Centennial Commemoration and the leadership of the Fort Sam Houston Joint Military Base in San Antonio, Texas
Organizers are working to ask the president for a pardon for these soldiers.
The tentative agenda schedule for the Day of Commemoration on September 28, 2018:
1300 Meet at Gift Chapel
1300-1305 Welcoming remarks
1305-1310 Invocation

1320-UTC Review of the event’s history, and provide historic perspective on the case (to include: local historian, military JAG historian, and/or Ambassador General James McEacin)

“In a real sense, when kept in context, these soldiers were placed in a no-win situation very similar to those who fought at the Alamo. Most reasonable minded people will acknowledge that they were not given the same rights and protections they fought so hard to defend, until now,” says Pastor Tatum
